Columbretes islands

This is one of the most natural and untouched archipelagoes of the Mediterranean. It is beautiful beyond words.
At about thirty miles from the Castellón coast are the Columbretes islands which are a handful of islands of volcanic origin declared a nature reserve because of its exceptional beauty, its ornithological importance, and the richness of its seabed.

The archipelago covers 5 marine miles, of which 19 hectares are above sea level. Fourteen of these hectares make up the l'Illa Grossa, host of the Columbretes lighthouse which is the only one still inhabited. The 67-metre height of the lighthouse’s mountain marks the highest point of the archipelago.

This reserve is very well protected and is much appreciated by navigation, diving and nature lovers.
